Water Main Break - Update
December 17, 2018 - Prescott Learning Centre had to respond to two alarms Monday, December 17th. There was a water main break prior to the start of school on Monday, December 17th that was contained to the Kindergarten and Early Childhood Services classes.
The good news is that Parkland School Division's Facilities Services Department was able to quickly coordinate efforts with the City of Spruce Grove to control the situation. The flooding triggered the fire alarms and the Spruce Grove Fire Department also responded. Thankfully, all the excess water was removed by about 9am and the water lines were restored at approximately 9:30am, so there was no real disruption to classes and the rest of the school.
Thank you to the staff and students who were forced to change their regular routines. Some dryers and dehumidifiers will be working overtime to restore the classrooms back to normal. We expect those displaced students to be back in their classroom by Wednesday at the latest.
At the end of the day, while crews were re-setting the fire panel, another alarm lead to students and staff participating in an unexpected fire drill. Thank you once again to Spruce Grove Fire Services for the prompt and thankfully, unecessary response.
