Buses Running Friday January 12th

January 12, 2018 - Parkland School Division buses are running for Friday, January 12, 2018.  Parents should ensure that students are dressed appropriately while travelling to and from school during inclement weather conditions. The temperatures on a school bus can drop dramatically in the event of mechanical issues. Bus numbers not operating, because they can’t start, will be posted on our Bus Status page starting at 6:30am. Automated voice messages will also be used to inform families of any affected buses.

In accordance with Administrative Procedure 131, weather guidelines that support the decision to suspend bus services include:

  • Windchill of approximately -40°C
  • Visibility of less than 1 kilometre
  • Impassable rural roads
  • Temperature of -40°C

The final decision to send a child to the bus stop or to school rests with parents, even though buses may be operational.

Except in very special circumstances, PSD schools always remain open on school days.

Grade 12 Social Studies Diploma Exams will proceed as scheduled.

As outlined in Administrative Procedure 131, schools shall remain open with an understanding that no new concepts or learning projects shall be initiated during a cancellation of transportation services. Review and/or progress on learning tasks, assignments or projects already in process shall be encouraged.

Automated voice messages will be used to inform families of any affected buses.
