False Alarm on Wednesday

April 11, 2018 - Fire Services were dispatched to Prescott Learning in response to a fire alarm at about 10:20am Wednesday April 11, 2018.

Fire protocols were enacted immediately and effectively to ensure the safety of all of our staff and students. Our staff will use this example as a teaching opportunity to review Administrative Procedure 355 - Student Discipline where it states that that tampering with fire, fire alarm or safety equipment is an example of unacceptable behaviour that could lead to disciplinary action.

For parents, it's also an opportunity to familiarize yourself with Division Emergency Repsonse Procedures.

The school was evacuated and students were held at various muster points on school grounds. The Fire Department responded, and along with Parkland School Division's Facilities Services, quickly determined it was a false alarm. Daily activities resumed before 11am.

Thanks to all the students and staff, the fire department and PSD's Facilities Services for such a great response.
