Late Bus Pass Registration Update

August 31, 2017 - Parkland School Division has changed the way families sign up for Transportation Services. In June, we requested ALL families (including those with $0 of Transportation Fees) to apply for bus passes prior to July 15, 2017 to ensure transportation on the first day of school.

Thanks to all those that have taken advantage of the NEW online bus registration system.

Just a note to let all parents who registered online for bussing and received a call that your pass was ready to be picked up: all passes that have been processed and printed have been moved to their respective schools.

Due to the high volume of registrants that came after the July 15th deadline, there has been a delay in printing all the passes. Parkland School Division Transportation Services staff are busy processing applications as quickly as possible. Once late registrations are processed, automated calls will follow, to let you know that your pass is printed and delivered to your school for pick-up. Thanks again for all your patience as we continue to improve our regional transportation system.

Afternoon Parent Transportation May Be Required for Late Registrants

It's very easy for a child to hop onto a bus in the morning and get to a transfer station. Staff can then direct children without a pass to the right bus to head to their correct school.

The reverse is not the same. Staff won't know which bus to put a child on once they get to the respective transfer sites during the afternoon runs, if they DON'T have a pass that indicates which route goes back to their neighbourhood and which stop to get off including alternate stops for daycares, day homes, split custody or other guardianship arrangements for care after school.

Routes have changed significantly, especially in the City of Spruce Grove, based on online registrations prior to July 15th and the implementation of a second bus transfer site on Spruce Grove’s west end. (A temporary bus transfer station at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic High School is being used until the permanent bus transfer site is ready later this fall). The bus they used to ride in previous years may not be going to the same transfer station. Each transfer station has specific connections.

In order to avoid children without passes riding an unknown bus and being stranded at the wrong transfer station in Spruce Grove, we strongly encourage parents who don't have their bus passes yet, to make arrangements to pick up their children at school at the end of the day until passes have been processed.

All applications are expected to be processed by the end of the 3-week grace period Tuesday, September 26, 2017.

For those families whose children require special needs busing, you will be receiving a call from your bus operator if you haven’t already done so.

Bus Pass Payments

Members of our Transportation Services staff continue to process online applications. As soon as applications are processed, your fees will be visible on the Acorn online payment system. If you do not see your fees listed in Acorn, your payment has yet to be processed. Please keep checking Acorn for your payment details. We are processing as fast as possible but this will carry into the start of the new school year.

Registration Continues

If you have yet to register online, please do so on our homepage. Parkland School Division families should use the Bus Registration Quick Link for PSD families using the snapcode provided to you at the end of last school year.

For those non-PSD families, any families new to Parkland School Division or for those who forgot or did not receive a snapcode, simply use the Bus Registration for non-PSD families Quick Link and register as soon as possible.

Change/Cancellation Requests

Due to the high volume of bus registration applications being processed, requests for changes or cancellations to online submissions will be considered once the Bus Pass Pick Up and Online Registration Process is complete. This will likely be no earlier than September 15, 2017. Any cancellations will take into account the date you submit your initial request to stop transportation services.
