Our Board of Trustees undertook an Attendance Area Review for the Spruce Grove and Area schools. This resulted in changes to previous school attendance areas and the creation of the attendance area for Prescott Learning Centre. The Board of Trustees announced the modified and/or new attendance areas early in 2016.

As our community continues to grow, Parkland School Division is committed to ensuring equitable access to Spruce Grove and area schools.
Parkland School Division held a "Name the New School" contest in Spring 2015, inviting community members to submit suggestions for the new school's name. Nel Ouwens' winning suggestion of "Prescott Learning Centre" was the name submitted to and ultimately chosen by the Parkland School Division Board of Trustees on June 9, 2015. In Ms. Ouwens' written submission, she summed up the origin of the name as follows:
This incorporates the name of the subdivision so it would clarify where the new school is within Spruce Grove. It also implies the multi-faceted learning that may take place in a modern school. Thirdly, the word centre suggests the new school as a focus of the Prescott community where other programming may take place as the community develops programs for its new residents.
